Identifying Roles and Responsibilities of FinOps Engineers is critical. Beyond that, we will also look at-

- What should I learn to be a FinOps Engineer ?

First of all - a DevOps engineer can do job of FinOps. Only very large organizations will need a dedicated FinOps function. Here are 5 key FinOps Responsibilities that the person needs tohave:

1. Setup Cost Observability: Seeing exactly where cloud costs come from, like having a clear view of your cloud spending.

2. Manage Cost Allocation: Understanding how different parts of the organization are using cloud resources, like figuring out which departments are using the most cloud storage.

3. Drive Cost Efficiency: Finding ways to get the most out of your cloud spending, like optimizing resources to run more efficiently.

4. Identify Unit Economics: Analyzing the cost per unit of service or product, like figuring out the cost per user for your cloud application.

5. Organize Cost Governance: Setting guidelines and processes to keep cloud costs under control, like creating budgets and alerts to avoid overspending.

Remember, FinOps isn't the only thing a DevOps engineer does. They'll still be focused on their core tasks. But with the right tools and understanding, they can easily integrate FinOps into their workflow and help the organization get the best value out of the cloud.
